OpenVPN being my favorite VPN software is not only a great piece of work but it's so configurable without the teadious pain of using IPSEC through NAT and so on.

One thing it lacks is a great portable GUI. The ones that work great, use registry (wtf.....er, what happened to XML!!?) and making them portable just makes it a little more difficult as you'd have to import registry and copy files to the C:\Program Files\OpenVPN etc.etc..

I don't even bother and happy with a command line window to be minimised considering it's portable and that it's not a permanent connection anyway.

I've created a simple ZIP with minimal files for openvpm and a simple BAT file in the "config" directory so that you add your conf and cert files and edit the BAT to call them and it will start the connection.

The original "Addtap.bat" and "Deltapall.bat" batch files are in the "bin" folder without full paths so they'll run anywhere you extract the ZIP.

Hopefully there will be a GUI soon which will launch it and minimise or something, otherwise I'll have to write my own in VB /C# or something. I mean, we're talking about calling a simple command line right!!!?

Update: I've copied the openvpn.de version of the GUI into the ZIP and a relative path .reg file to import which will work in any path you copy your OpenVPN directory to on your USB stick.Â
